Ma Steel is a large-scale steel joint venture in China, authorized by the Anhui Provincial Government to operate. It currently has a production scale of 18 million tons of steel supporting facilities, a total asset of 92.1 billion yuan, and 54000 employees. It is expected that in 2013, Ma Steel will produce 18.77 million tons of steel and achieve a revenue of 82 billion yuan.
Ma Steel is a state-owned enterprise that has developed through self accumulation and rolling development. In 1953, Ma On Shan Iron Works produced iron; In 1958, Ma'anshan Iron and Steel Company was established; In 1993, the company successfully implemented a shareholding system reform and split into Ma Steel Corporation and Ma On Shan Steel Co., Ltd. Ma On Shan Steel Co., Ltd. became an A+H share listed company in China's steel industry; In 1998, Ma Steel Corporation was legally restructured into Ma Steel (Group) Holding Co., Ltd.
Ma Steel has three major sectors: steel main industry, mineral resources industry, and non steel industry. The main business of steel is concentrated in Ma Steel Co., Ltd., specializing in the smelting and rolling of ferrous metals, as well as product sales. It has production lines for cold and hot rolled thin plates, galvanized plates, color coated plates, silicon steel, high-speed wire (bar) materials, H-beams, wheels (tires), and other products, forming a unique "plate, shape, line, wheel, and special" product structure, with a plate to strip ratio of over 50%. The mineral resources industry is mainly focused on iron ore, and its business is concentrated in mining companies. It has jurisdiction over Nanshan Mine, Gushan Mine, Taochong Mine, Luohe Mine, and Zhangzhuang Mine, with an estimated finished ore output of 5.2 million tons in 2013. The non steel industry involves fields such as finance, environmental protection, logistics, trade, engineering design, steel structures, equipment manufacturing and installation, technical consulting, and labor services.
